Yamaha Star 650 quick carb Carb clean series

Seems to be given any amount of time that the jets in the emulsion tube of each carb will clog causing the engine to die just off idle.  Even if the carbs are perfectly clean, this issue causes an interesting closure to form, a perfect circle which reduces the jet size in a uniform fashion.  For these situations it is not necessary to remove the carbs from the bike, and a quick clean of these particular jets can be accomplished.

Part 1

In this video we identify the issue with the Vstar, or Star 650 cruiser and the known issue with ethanol that causes the engine to stutter and die directly off idle.   Even if the Mikuni carbs are perfectly clean, it doesn't cause much sitting to produce this problem.  We evaluate, and then remove the tank to prepare for the task.

Part 2

In this video we start with the rear carb mikuni of the vstar / star 650 cruiser, carefully disassembling and then conducting an inspection.  In removing the specific components we can see where the clog is, easily removed with carb cleaner and compressed air.  The rubber components are re-dressed and the carb is re-assembled.

Part 3

In this video we start with the rear carb mikuni of the vstar / star 650 cruiser, carefully disassembling and then conducting an inspection.  In removing the specific components we can see where the clog is, easily removed with carb cleaner and compressed air.  The rubber components are re-dressed and the carb is re-assembled.

The bike is then tested with an auxiliary gas can, and once approved,  with no leaks, the bike is completely re-assembled.
